Are You Really a Project Manager?

Peggy Lee, Singing "I'm a Woman" on 1962's Ed Sullivan show

Project Management for Non-Project Managers

Anyone familiar with Peggy Lee’s 1962 song “I’m A Woman”? Great song, great singer, but…

It reminds me a lot of the project management posts I see here. A project manager does everything, is everything to everyone, at all times. Being a PM is compared to everything from being a diplomat to riding a bicycle on fire.

If you’re a PM, and you’re accountable for everything but have authority for nothing, you’re not a PM.

You’re a scapegoat.

Convince me otherwise.
