Top Podcasts for Tech, Business, and Personal Growth

My partner and I devour political coverage like some folks follow their favourite sports teams. For me, it’s all about podcasts. I mix in news, history, comedy, and even a couple of German-language shows to keep my ear sharp for chats with my parents. Podcasts have become my go-to for staying in tune with the world, discovering fresh ideas, or picking up new skills—all while getting through the daily grind. If you’re a podcast junkie too, here’s what I’ve been listening to lately:

Pivot– This one’s perfect if you’re into tech, business, politics, and culture. Kara Swisher (a billionaire-skeptical tech reporter) and Scott Galloway (a venture-capitalist turned NYU professor) give their raw take on big issues—from tech power plays and economic trends to political forces shaping the market. Their different perspectives and healthy disagreements make each episode both insightful and entertaining.

The Happiness Lab– I picked this up as part of a personal growth project, and it’s become a favourite. Dr. Santos dives into research on psychology, neuroscience, and real-life strategies to improve well-being. The themes—gratitude, social connection, stress management—are a goldmine for anyone interested in leadership and productivity.

Lately, I’ve also been revisiting some old favourites I might bring back into rotation after election season:

How I Built This – Guy Raz explores the stories behind successful companies and their founders. It’s a fascinating look at resilience, creativity, and leadership insights—ideal for anyone in or around entrepreneurship.

The Tim Ferriss Show – Known for deep dives into business, productivity, and personal development, Tim Ferriss interviews high achievers from every field. His knack for pulling out actionable insights (often centered around the 80/20 rule) makes it easy to find strategies you can actually use.

Manager Tools – Perfect if you’re keen on DISC profiles or want concrete frameworks for coaching, delegation, and feedback. It’s also a go-to for book recommendations, which, as a book lover, I always appreciate.

Finally, a couple of podcasts I’m curious to sample once world politics calm down a bit. Have you listened to any of these?

WorkLife – Organizational psychologist Adam Grant talks about workplace culture, innovation, and enhancing productivity and fulfillment.

The Knowledge Project – Hosted by Shane Parrish, this show is about practical wisdom, decision-making, and leadership.

Coaching for Leaders – Dave Stachowiak covers everything from personal leadership growth to effective team management, with actionable tips for professionals at all levels.

HBR IdeaCast – Harvard Business Review’s own podcast, focusing on leadership, strategy, and innovation with insights from global experts.
