Planning Isn’t an Event…

Rule of Thumb: Report (be accountable) upwards on a regular basis. “Nothing clears the mind like a hanging in the morning.”

Corollary: Get your updates on a shorter cycle that what you report. If you report upwards every year, get updates every month. Report monthly, get weekly updates. And so on. This avoids the unpleasant surprise of missing deadlines and failing deliveries all at once, and spreads them out into smaller, more manageable packages over time.
